Food as a subject in Western art goes back to Etruscan murals and Roman mosaics and later became popular in the Dutch and Flemish Baroque period. It was significant in French and Spanish realism and, more recently, in Pop Art and Photo Realism.
In this body of work, I am concentrating on depicting a particular food item – cheese.
