Many of Pete’s friends will be surprised to see the paintings that he has completed in the last two years. Known to his friends as a physical kind of person who has always been a competitive athlete, experimenting with painting is out of his comfort zone. Never having any formal art instruction, he decided to experiment with painting and maybe find the artist within him. After reading an article about some artists who use recycled house paint, he decided to experiment using house paint for his colorful abstract paintings.
His experiment quickly became a community effort. After posting on social media his plans for painting and asking if any of his friends had cans of paint they wanted to donate, the response was wonderful. It seems like everyone has partially used cans of house paint in their garages and basements.
His work focuses on color and color combinations. He does not have a specific plan when he starts a painting, but he does know which colors he wants to combine. After experimenting with his technique, he is now able to manipulate the paint in different ways compared to when he began painting. Those who have seen some of his works, see different images in the paintings which make each one unique to the viewer.
